I always let some skills slide if I deem someone a perfect cultural fit. I made a mistake of hiring a great cloud engineer who interrupts everyone in meetings. I got stuck with him because no one wanted to work with him. Learned my lesson
interesting! I wonder if your cloud engineer would be receptive to feedback
As long as they speak the language the other team members speak . They should also do the DEI training before the start of work . There should not be any cultural biases in you or any ones mind .
sorry should have clarified- i meant personality fit :)
Cultural fit is a 1000% must before anything and everything else, if they are not going to get along with the team, it is not going to work point blank. It’s sometimes hard to tell upfront, you just have to do your due diligence in asking as many questions as you can, and possibly bring in other team members into the interview process when appropriate, but do not discount cultural fit because at the end of the day if team members do not get along it’s not going to be a harmonious working environment, which doesn’t produce outcomes
this is a great explanation- thanks!
