How’s Protiviti? I just had an interview for a IAFA manager role and it sounded pretty interesting. How’s culture, WLB, technology, offices, etc.?

As someone who has worked at both KPMG and now Protiviti, the work life balance is considerably better at Protiviti. You have so many more leadership exposure opportunities - our CEO attends many of the challenge schools (I’ve met him several times). If you’re a rock star, you will be recognized. The company is growing and continues to show appreciation to it’s employees through surprise bonuses, increased bonus pool, additional company holidays, etc. As someone in IA, I’ve been on Security, Privacy, and Enterprise Risk Assessment projects. I’ve also acted in a PMO role. But if you like IA, you really can’t go wrong.

I have a couple friends still there and they like the culture but hate the work, if that makes sense. It's IA, so controls, compliance, and the occasional operational audit. I used to do it and found the work extremely boring, plus exit ops are generally limited to IA. Wasn't for me but you could be different.

My friends also mentioned the lack of prestige and recognition. Hiring managers haven't really heard of protiviti, so you have to say "we're a subsidiary of Robert Half" to get them to go "ooooooh yeah I know them." Very different from having B4 on your resume, so you'll need to work harder to sell yourself.

Biggest thing is that if you go in with the expectation of doing controls and compliance work, you'll be fine. But if you get tricked into thinking it's consulting (their titles and marketing tactics lead you to think that way), you'll be disappointed immediately. They may promise you'll also work on consulting projects but you won't. Read glassdoor and you'll see the bait and switch is common. If you actually want to do consulting, go to a consulting firm, not an IA outsource firm.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I’m in IA now and like it, just looking for a better fit than my current role. Protiviti seems like it might be a good place to grow for a few years although yeah the name recognition isn’t that good.

Tbh I'd recommend going for B4/Midtier if you're going back to public

Protiviti can be just as brutal as public without the brand name

Hi all,
I have one doubt. What is the meaning of "LD." in bny Mellon? I saw lots of positions starting with ld

Boston BioTech

I'm in the final round of interviews for two internal positions - both vertical. One has FTE's (my first such experience) and the other a much broader scope vs my current role

I had interviewed externally for a role on par w the internal roles, at a smaller and less established company. They confirmed +20% was in their range

How do I push back on my company if they offer less than that, if I do want one of those roles? Without a pay scale, what is the best way to approach?

Received a job offer. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a concern I had about it. It's an entry level position, and I don't have much experience. The billables are 2040 a year. For billable hours in civil litigation and insurance defense, is 2040 hours for a 1st year associate on the high end in this field for a small or midsize firm? It seems like most attorneys I know have minimum requirements of around 1800. The compensation is around 80k a year.

Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.
