I am a licensed Paramedic of 17 years that is getting too old to climb inside upside down vehicles. My background includes claims specialist and provider network consultant for Aetna from 1994-2001. I currently oversee an EMS service of about 85 employees that includes everything that comes with a hospital owned EMS service. I am looking for a career change. I have tons of experience with different things. I would love to work from home and focus my experience on something new.

I always thought being an EMT wuld be a really cool job. I would for sure check in Linked in and Indeed. There are so many places hiring right now. Hopefully you can find something you love.

I can definitely understand that, and your experience lends itself well to other opps in healthcare so good luck!

Thank you for your service! My husband is an EMT and I have seen firsthand what the job can do to your body after years and years. Hope you find something that suits what you need right now and still brings you joy!

Thank you so much. That means a lot to hear

Thank you for your service. You are severely underpaid. You can get hired on at an imaging company working contract work for sedations and MRI help. They pay well and always need an EMT.

I'd look into Health Information Technology. With your experience, you may even be able to get a Trainer or Director position in Health Information Tech. The medium wage is approx. $45k for techs, but if you are in a supervisor or trainer position, I bet you'd easily be able to make $65k.

Why are you looking for a career change? And how much are you compensated right now?

I am ready for a slower physical pace at this point. EMS is brutal on the body and after 17 years my body is ready to slow down some. That does not mean I don't want to work. I am just ready to go back to a more business setting. Also, I have skills that I would like to enhance and build on. As for compensation, I would like to get a minimum.of $65k yearly.

I have an interview on Friday, if they hire me and I take it, I’m leaving a toxic work environment, very poor management and nosy coworkers for another Union job but I feel better RBI’s new job will have better work relations, room for growth and better management. However, I’ll be leaving 7 years and great work perks. How do I have potential new job to pay me my rate of pay and possibly give me some of my previous work perks.

It will take me a while to get a hang of. The positive is that there is a lot of learning. But I had goals of being a sm in a year or 2 and I don’t see that happening in this engagement. What do you guys think, should do? It’s a huge engagement so it’s room to grow. Should I just suck it up and try?
