I recently interviewed at a company a few weeks ago. I didn’t get the job, but I asked if I could get some feedback on why I didn’t get it. She said it was because I had mentioned I’m getting married next year. I was pretty perplexed so I didn’t have anything to say. I just thanked her for her time. Is this normal? I’m a first year litigator who has been handling a rather small case by myself. The partner was copied on all emails to and from opposing counsel, but he pretty much let me run the show. Opposing counsel was very kind and understanding that this was one of my first cases. He seemed to even go out of his way to explain some of the procedural hurdles as we worked towards settlement. Now that the case has settled, would it be appropriate for me to thank him in an email? Not sure if this is normal

How common is severance for associates laid off? Common (or not) in both big and mid law?

Anyone do employment contract law in Florida? My girlfriend urgently needs a consult on on enforceability / potential damages for breach of a clause in her employment agreement that requires her to give 30 days notice.
Main question regarding damages is whether company could tax her the cost of replacing her with an hourly consultant since she would be leaving during a critical business time (corporate tax filing season).
