I am at a very small firm (<10 attorneys) and am “interviewing” with a larger firm. Considering partner and counsel roles. Beyond compensation structure, billable requirements, and partnership expectations, what questions should I ask? If considering partner position, what is fair to ask about their books?

Recently got an offer from PharmEasy for the Data Analyst role with a 30 % hike from current salary at Deloitte, where CTC is 8.1 LPA
But will have to pay in the training cost along with the joining bonus which comes up to 2.4 lac. Really confused what to do as I've been on bench for 3 months now with no learning opportunity and don't know what kind of projects I might get ahead and what about the wlb as compared to PharmEasy.

There’s a practice group that I’ve been trying to find work in but whenever I volunteer to help, I always get roped in to do non billable work. In the beginning it was fine but now I’m feeling it’s never going to amount to actual work. Any tips to get more involved without all the non billables and how to approach this gently?

I believe improving one’s sales conversion rate is something everyone want to improve but no one wants to admit they would like to work it. Funny how lawyers will spend thousands on seminars to improve trial skills. But this topic is not discussed in our profession. I have read books in sales. But am unable to find any for lawyers. I made an offer to a candidate today. It feels really good to make that phone call and hear the other person being happy.

You hired an intern in law school, trained him mentored him. Work product was great. Gave him a full time offer and he was working full time for 3 months. Set to go back in the office. Conflicted 2nd Year Associate here. I generally like my firm but obviously hate the practice of law (biglaw). I've been offered a fairly generous comp package to take a non-attorney compliance role with a FAANG company. While there is a modest base pay cut, the total comp (sign on + annual bonus + options) beats where I'm at now and probably will be better than Cravath-scale (including bonus) through at least Year 4. Since I know I'll bail for in-house anyway, should I go now or wait?

I have a promising interview at a relatively large law firm in my area (+100 attorneys) next week. The position is for a transactional role in their real estate practice group, and they are seeking someone with at least 2 YOE. I have a bit over 7 YOE with a strong real estate/commercial lit. background. Over the past two years in my current position, I've been doing a lot more transactional work. The split is around 50% transactional and 50% lit.
