Think they did a good job on this piece. It was a truly embarrassing moment for the firm, but I think it’s being handled as well as can be expected. Should go smoothly this year 🤞

Both offers are quite same looking at cost of living but apart from salary u should look for work life balance, vacations , quality time with family ,children's education. Relationship with your colleagues in existing locations. Relocating with family will be life changing decision for everyone. Instead opt for short trip, I would nt go for permanent job to any other country ...i would certainly go for vacations short office trips in every single country .. I hv traveled 12 countries so far and no matter where i stayed ...even i stayed in best of Europian country i missed India.
Leave,
Save like crazy and put everything into index funds or rent property. It's not a coincidence everything in Bangalore ( rentals) are owned by people in us / Dubai.
Skip the rat race retire early !! 💪
If your going on L1A and if you are sure your company will start GC process, it's worth taking the risk.
Yes, it's L1B, and it doesn't allow to switch companies..
When you have good growth here..why to leave?
Thanks for your advice. I would definitely like to go with family. Did some back of the envelope calculations to see the savings would be similar or a Lil more in US, but people say quality of life improves a lot. I have been abroad for short terms and ease of life is there..The dilemma is for quality of life there and comfort zone here
If you are getting constant recognition & monetary value of recognitions here in India then why to leave n go for something which is uncertain.
Else depends on you & what point of life you are in as living in other country have other challenges also.
Hope that helps to make a better decision.
All the best.
Thanks a lot for your clear inputs...
Go with San Diego role. It's a bful place. 170k is good amount. I was getting 50 lacs in India but moved to US on 180k. It's not about money but the overall life style and exposure which you will get more here.
Since your current org recognises you, I'm guessing they would help if any change needed in future too
I would suggest if you see the savings also make sense go to US and get the exposure maybe for 2 years or so. If you like continue.
Else if you like to come back your company would consider that too.
Leaving India for any other country is a tradeoff not only on the money part, but also on the personal front as well.
Exposure is good outside India. You'll meet and explore new people, lifestyle - all good.
Make note it'll be a scratch start in any new country.
Particularly about the US, it's a land of opportunities, undoubtedly. Post pandemic, the scenario has changed a lot, inflation is at its roof and money you take home might end up saving less or just a little more than someone made in India earlier.
A holistic approach is necessary. Better to weigh what's good/bad or pros and cons on a piece of paper, along with family/spouse/kids. It's better to have an inner call from within rather than coming from someone else. If you want to escape and explore for a few years outside and be sure about coming back, go for it. Although it's tough to come back on a similar note. If you are going on an H1B visa, be prepared for the worst, in terms of wait times and prolonged delays of wait times in terms of Green Card and visa extension related. What visa you'll be going on, H1B or L?
Very well said...I would be going on an L1(if I go) and the company says they would apply for a GC within 6 months..
As you said returning is a Lil difficult decision, being in Bangalore, and Kannada being mandatory till grade 8, it would be difficult when I return back...
