I am leaving my job today because I’ve realize that the strengths need to be a high performer at this job aren’t align with my skill set. Is this okay to say to my team? I want to be honest but also not bash myself.

No, no reason to kick yourself on the way out

I’d use slightly different phrasing but the message is fine. Maybe something more like “I realized my strengths and passions align better to a different career path” rather than “my strengths don’t allow me to be a high performer here” - gives the same message but makes it less about your natural capability to perform and more about where you best fit.

You don't need to explain yourself

like

I don’t know you so I might be miles off here but maybe you’re just mentally exhausted? Try to schedule time off, maybe a week or two and in that time get some rest and think about it properly before quitting.

When I say think about it properly (and maybe you’ve done this so don’t mind me if I’m miles off), I mean identify exactly what you mean by “strengths needed” then also identify what your strengths are and what jobs would best align with that.

You may not need to quit and may just need to change service groups within your firm (if you don’t hate the company).

Also, like EY2 said, if you’ve absolutely decided you want to quit, there really isn’t any need to explain yourself. Just put in your notice.

Goodluck to you and I hope everything works out nicely.

like

Feel the exact same way and have been trying to figure out what to do next

like

Why in the world would you say this ? There is absolutely no good reason for it

like

What are you struggling with in particular? Do you have someone within EY assigned to be your mentor or buddy that you can chat with about this? I personally would get a second opinion and go from there rather than quitting right away.

like

Unless the job is something you completely do not want to do, use your opportunity to continue to learn and challenge yourself. Confidence and capability only improves through growing pains :) Resigning only helps EY (no salary on the books) help yourself first!

like

I’d say don’t leave until you next job is set

like

Nope but good for you for recognizing it! That means you're very self-aware

like

Put in 2 weeks while you interview elsewhere!

like

I would have interviews in position, preferably an offer before submitting a 2 week notice.

like

I wouldn’t leave till I figure out what I want to do and which way I want to go career wise. Like D1 said you might be just able to change service groups within your firm.

Any advice on how to tastefully tell your manager that you no longer want to be a charge nurse anymore? For us being in charge is having full assignment 3p-7p & being responsible for assigning pts , communicating w/ supervisor about various issues, making the assignment for next shift, and a mini report about each pt for the next charge. On the weekends, same responsibilities but 7a-7p. We don't get any additional pay for being in charge and I'm sick of the added responsibility and stress of it.

I have a wee crush on one of the partners in my firm and I thought he liked me too, but neither of us did anything about it (which is entirely appropriate). That was all pre-Rona. Now I’m leaving the firm and pursuing another opportunity and staying in the same city. Since he’ll no longer be my boss, is there a way to find out if my feeling was correct? How should I go about this? (Especially given Rona?)

My old employer asked me if I wanted to come back to the company as a manager. The pay will likely be much better and the position holds more responsibility than I’ve had before, so overall it would be a step up. The issue is I left the company because of an abusive manager who constantly put me down and made me feel like I wasn’t doing anything right. If I come back I’d be working under her again. I’m torn because the opportunity is great but the stress was awful. Continued in comments…

This is twice now in back to back weeks my boss has asked me where the disconnect was in our communications because I didn’t deliver on what “was asked”, even though I know damn well what was asked and what was done were the same thing. I am so tired of being treated like an assistant and I’m at a loss on how to correct it. My coworkers are generally nice, but while I watch white (usually male) associates at my level or even more junior get substantive work, I’m still receiving administrative tasks as a mid-level. Appreciate any advice.

It’s hard to trust the partners/leadership when they want us to return to office as being better when we increase offshoring? Also, the pressure on billable hours when all that really matters is how much our fixed labor costs vs. how much we can bill (which is usually fixed fee or at least a range) and the fixed labor costs of offshoring is significantly cheaper so the hours don’t matter. Am I mistaken by this viewpoint?

I’m teaching summer school at a high school, and the co-principals have asked me to focus on only 2 to 3 chapters worth (what they are calling “2-3 standards” in the eight days of summer semesters. However, they are also asking me to give kids the midterm and/or final at the end of each period, which covers 4-5 chapters each semester. My question is this: “Is it legal by California Ed code for the administration to ask me to teach less than each entire semester, yet test each whole semester?”

I finally was able to convince my principal that we need a consistent math intervention at the MS level (grades 5-8). (Right now, we are just "doing our own thing," which isn't helping students progress much.) Does anyone have any suggestions? It would be beneficial to have some sort of progress monitoring tool as part of the program, if possible. Our classes run roughly 55 minutes (which is too long for an intervention, in my humble opinion).

Thanks for any advice.
