Cogno AI Hey fishes, One of my friends, got offer in cognizant. She have an epfo account with inactive UAN and she changed her name in aadhar recently and this epfo account has the past name. So she raised request for name change 2 months ago and still it's processing. And now cognizant asking the acknowledgement of changed name which the previous company cannot provide for obvious reasons. Will it affect the doj? Or anyone had this kind of problem before? I freelance social content for clients now. It's so much better than my previous toxic situation which sounds a lot like yours. Freelancing gives us flexibility and a lighter atmosphere. I'd look into Contra or UpWork. Plus social media needs graphic design and writing as you wanted. Something to think about. Hope the next few months treat you better.
Thank you, friend. I am hoping so too. I originally was so furious, I was just going to give my 2 weeks today, but my mother and husband talked me off the ledge, so if they do fire me in August, I'll go down fighting.
Hi, I’m sorry that this has happened to you. I can relate on feeling defeated. Did they give you milestones when started the job? Is this a role in which you experienced or still kinda new for you?
- It sounds like a toxic environment that included micromanagement and possibly no support. I’ve been in that situation before, with the exception of being micromanaged. I was bullied instead. He didn’t like me & told me so after they hired me two days before school started. I was the second of two applicants for the position. (Red flag)
- That job I had was full of criticism and without any support. Colleagues offered to be a campus mentor. Each of them were told no. He had been in my classroom twice (maybe 10 minutes combined) over the 3 quarters of the academic year. Each time, ‘yup you talk too much, you’re definitely a high school teacher’. Every time he spoke to me he had something smart to say. When I asked him to refrain from his behavior it just got worse. It, the stress & anxiety, was so bad I was losing hair over it.
- Long story short - Union President had filed 8 violations against him plus giving me an incomplete improvement plan as the fourth quarter started. There wasn’t even enough time left in the school year to do it & I could continue it the following year. The violations went to the highest level they could. It didn’t matter though. The good ol’ boys believed their longtime pal.
- So I recommend reflecting on that experience, know it really wasn’t all about you, and realize it was a learning experience. People like that have an agenda. She was likely trying to get you to walk as to avoid an unemployment claim. She probably had someone ready to fill your spot the next day.
- If they deny your claim, contest it. You probably aren’t the first or last person to be treated that way.
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I am so sorry that happened to you.
Now that you mention it, yes, the thought has crossed my mind that she is trying to get me to walk, as she is still frosty to me and just doing the bare minimum of communication so it looks good on paper.
I was also shocked when I talked to HR as they said my manager really likes me and that she could see that I was struggling. What my manager had told HR was NOT at all my experience with her behavior towards me.
It's unfortunate, because I get along with others in the department and my other coworker on the team, who has been really supportive and helpful. But, it also really unfair for her to be stuck in the middle and helping me in the way my manager should be.
I'm hoping I may be able to transfer into another position in the institution, but in the meantime, I will work on improving my skills and most importantly, create a standard operating procedure with detailed info that I would have found helpful in my role. I at least want to leave the team in better shape and help my successor so he/she/they don't feel so overwhelmed by the information overload like I was.
I hope your situation has improved friend. ❤️
Sorry to hear this is happening to you; it sounds devastating. Expectations and workload vary so much in roles like this...good job in deciding not to quit right away.
it sounds like you have a terrible manager at worst or just a bad fit manager at best. I want to remind you that you are not your job. You deserve to have a role in a company with a manager where you feel like you can do work that you feel good about.
Thank you, it is hard because I feel like my family is so proud of me for working for a large institution in our region, hence the shame in struggling to adapt.
I will continue to reframe this as I strive to improve. Maybe I'm not the right fit here, but I'll keep trying until I'm told otherwise and then move on.
I feel you! I had a lot of tense interactions with my supervisor where he said I had to learn the systems faster which led me to make some costly mistakes. I had a 2 month prohibitionary period to prove myself and that got me so nervous/wracked up in my head to where he had to unfortunately let me go 1 month into the job
I am so sorry you were let go. Hoping you found better opportunities!
I am so sorry you are dealing with this and tbh I would be polishing the resume and job hunting because it sounds bad and even if they aren't planning on getting you gone, that level of stress and anxiety isn't good for you or normal.
Did the document offer any expectations or key areas you could work on? I find it weird that they could come up with SIX PAGES of stuff before, you know, actually addressing this with you. Why let problems fester like that? Sounds like shoddy supervision as much as a you problem.
Work with what you can-- hopefully the document would have clearly named the issue which gives you some guidance on how to improve things. It depends on how much agency you have to make changes (ie. If a complaint about you is that you come in late, you can correct that-- but if it's that you're not selling enough widgets in an oversaturated market and your company's widgets suck compared to the competition's, you likely can't change much there.) Work with what you have the power to change-- your behaviours and routines and reactions in some cases-- but start looking for something elsewhere.
Thank you for your kind words. The issues that were documented in the letter had been discussed with me, but it was just a rehashing of what had already been discussed.
It's been a month since I received the letter, and things have improved slightly. I talked to my primary and we agreed to increase my medications for ADHD and anxiety, which has helped quite a bit. I've also been getting more sleep (at the time, I had just gotten married a few weeks before and had been averaging about 4-5 hours of sleep a night).
I've also been utilizing the employee resources, including working with a job coach and increased my therapy sessions. Also taking a week off to pack for an upcoming move and see family.
Hoping for the best but preparing for the worst!
Ugh, also just realized my typo with *combined. I'm so tired and stressed, which is also contributing to my mistakes.

Hi! I'm not sure what you mean by this, other than that both are contradictory?
