I would wait until you get closer to your graduation date. Like a month or six weeks out. It is unlikely businesses will hire people so far out from finishing school, especially since the economy is rocky
Thank you. I really appreciate that advice.
You don't really have to wait until graduation. Continue with your job hunting. It would be tough but you'll get one for sure.
Thank you ☺️
The fall before graduation is when a lot of university recruiting happens so the next six months are hopefully going to be more productive for you
Thank you ☺️
Yep this fall is your sweet spot for the best cohort recruiting. Summer before is difficult, fall is best, spring is difficult again (not as bad as summer), post graduation becomes desperation
I started 6 months before my graduation too and continued looking for jobs 8 months after graduation (I graduated in April 2020 - start of covid). My suggestion would be:
- focus on networking, you have time so leverage that and demonstrate your skill set on day t-1 and show you can get going as soon as you start working
- while you focus on job hunting, also see if you can volunteer yourself in a role that aligns with your interest or just work on personal projects
- lastly, do not give up. Every no leads to a yes.
Thank you all for the great advice! I was so hesitant to post my question here. I am so glad that I did because the feedback has been great and encouraging. I will not give up.
Sn: I have extreme anxiety when interviewing. 😔
