some people are bad at interviewing, just like some people are bad getting interviewed.
but that’s why you should always have questions prepped (as the interviewee), before you enter the room.
Yeah I just sort of run the interview myself but I find it weird and I leave with less information in a way bc I have to pry it out of them
Every. Interview. It’s such a cop out. My interviewers only ever roll up with “any questions for me?” And “tell me about yourself.” It gets exhausting to both be interviewed AND interview yourself.
I hate this and also think it’s rife with bias. They’re not evaluating skills or asking behavioral questions, just vague notions of “fit”, which is super problematic.
Yes! This is so weird 🥴
I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed this. Every interview I’ve had recently the only thing they ask is what questions I have. For multiple rounds too, but just the initial screen.

I always run a 15 min or so pre interview which is generally just seeing if there's a fit. This goes both ways so I want give or take half the convo led by them.
Doesn't do either of us any good if they end up hating the role.
It just feels like they don’t even remember why they are talking to you. Just hit back with: sure, how much 💰?
These interviewees are too busy and overworked to care. I found this in my own hiring experience and regret the giant red flag. If you’re a junior take any good role that you think will get you good work. If you’re senior and treated like this you should know better and run.
When I do that it’s because someone grabbed me from the hallway and said, “hey! Come interview this guy for a department you don’t even work with!”
They have jobs at a place you seemingly want to work. Ball's in your court.
This is why I stay agency side lol
