I got a referral to Google, and wanted to know what role/s I should apply for that would be easier to get my foot in the door.

My background: Working in business consulting rn (2 months in).

Graduate degree in engineering management from Duke University. Worked for 4 years at a Fortune 500 before grad school, in Ops and Corporate Affairs.

It’s a tough time to apply/join Google now. If you only have 2 months in your current role then it probably won’t help much either then. The role you have the best shot at is probably what your experience/competency is best in, whether that’s finance or PM or sales or other

Switching from commission to salary!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

What % haircut should be expected? As an example, if I make 100k (base + commission) today, would it be realistic to ask for 90k (10% cut) + equity to make up the difference?

I’ve seen multiple posts on this lately so want to reiterate to candidates:
This process take a long time- 3+ months.
After your interviews, your recruiter will likely say you’ll hear back in a week- do not count on that. It may take up to a month.
If your recruiter doesn’t answer you, they probably just don’t have any updates. They’re not ghosting you.
They call for both good and bad. Don’t overthink it until you know.

In the first comment is a helpful post on steps and timeline

Security engineer interview next week! Any preparations advise?

Hi, I am currently interviewing for the abuse analyst role in a Trust and Safety team at Google. I have had 3 rounds done and a 4th (RRK) is scheduled. I'm not sure if the previous rounds were entirely RRK/GCA/Leadership as questions asked were mixed. I have been conveyed though that my feedback so far, is pretty neutral / avg hence a 4th round which will be entirely RRK.

So, my question to y'all:
For an analyst role, what's the best way to prep for RRK? Is live coding in SQL asked?

Thanks!

I had my final round interviews few weeks back. Heard from the recruiter today that they would for me to have a virtual coffee with the hiring manager’s manager.
1. Does that mean I went back a step with needing another validation or this would have been a step in the process anyway?
2. If this goes well, then no hiring committee or is it more data point collection for the hiring committee?
3. Anything to be mindful of for the virtual coffee?
