I got a role in a different business unit where I’m now peers with my previous manager. Thing is, she still speaks to me as if I’m her subordinate. It’s happened a few times before. The last time it happened, instead of politely asking for something she worded it as “I am going to take x and will return it in a week. Let me know if you have any issues.” I am directly responsible for x. Do I call her out on it or just let it go? Am I being too sensitive?

Could be something like “ You mentioned on the call that you would be taking care of x, I should actually take care of it as it already falls under my role. I appreciate the support though”

like

What is she taking that would cause you to have any issues?

My first question to her would be “why?” I’d follow up with a quick reminder saying that it’s my service.

I’m a PR manager with 5 years of experience and have been applying for copywriting, project management and comms strategy positions with no luck. I’ve been applying since April and have only had 2 interviews. Any advice on how best to transition or what other fields I can look into?

When do you think associates are usually let go in small practice groups that are currently being overwhelmed with work? Is it when it starts to slows down or when they already have a candidate to replace you? Just trying to figure out how long I have after annoying a partner 😂.

What’s the etiquette on applying for jobs to test the waters, so to speak?

Is it acceptable to significantly delay a start date (ie. toward the end of the year when things start to get back to normal) if you get an offer, or will that end up getting you blacklisted?

Any harm in applying to see what’s possible or better to just stick with informational interviews?
