If you happy then accept it; if not, don’t
How are you calculating the equity is worth 50k extra per year, is it spread across 4 years for a total of 200k? Is the company public or have you done your research about a viable path for an IPO soon? If not, equity is worth nothing.
Hard to imagine this year’s raise being 10%. But a very valid point. So much unknown. Maybe the PBB may provide some indicator of how raises are going to go.
Put the money aside for a moment. Is the role aligned with your short and long term career goals? Wlb? Culture? Do you think the fintech will succeed long term (will there be equity growth and future job growth)?
My main goal is to get into data science and maybe working in a pre-IPO company can give me more chances to break into that space (although it isn’t really in my job description but it’s a start). WLB could possibly be better than EY. Culture i think is the same, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many great people. Considering the fintech is going to IPO soon, I believe in the company’s ability to expand my equity position.

I can wrap my head around what you’re saying, but always compare total comp to total comp. $50k is a lot of money and I assume your WLB will be better as well.

Do you feel like you’re being lowballed or are you well over your pay band at EY? Very surprised the raise is small.
I don’t think I’m over my pay band but I also don’t think I’m being lowballed. Maybe in the middle. Cash raise is low but I get equity, a sign-on bonus, a fixed percentage raise (not variable like EY) and employer-paid benefits.
