Discussing salary today for an Equity Derivatives Trader Assistant role at Analyst level at JP (have been working in another analyst role for 1 year as well as an industrial placement at GS). What is the salary I should be asking for please?

You can't have two jobs. Period.
Don't listen to the desi totkays, you've worked too hard and you'll put your visa and future in jeopardy.
Even equity will be deemed as a financial compensation. There are extensive what you can do or cannot do stuff on their website..you can sit on not for profit/ voluntary boards as volunteer not for compensation. Just wait for your ead card

How about violation of L1 visa? I will technically be be paid in equity vested over few years.
My immigration sense as well as real
life examples say that you can be in an advisory board in exchange of equity. I don't think it's a second job. I know few folks who are partners and are in advisory board. Please check
with immigration attorneys
They can be there when it's voluntary. If it's any compensation, even a reimbursement for lunch or in this case equity it becomes violation of visa.
People have been finding loopholes in past, including applying h1b visas from many employers thus also taking other ppls spot. But ICE has gotten smarter, they have become more vindictive since Trump's era. You're right, it's black and white, with white only that we stick to our original employer and nothing else (except voluntary position at charity but not more, not even a paid lecturer at University). Trust me, I've seen shit hit the fan for lots of people and that's why I am always adamant in wishing the best and what's safe for everyone.
