It’s a mid size agency! Thanks everyone
I think only you can judge your own happiness. I do think there are similar skill sets you would use and your past as an assistant in media gave you in idea of what media is like. Perhaps you should ask yourself if you were happy as an AE and if not, then check out media.
I was happy, but I really need to a find a new job.. :-/
If your passion is client relations, definitely do not do media in a large agency. A mid or small will allow you more face time at that level. I think if your true PASSION is the client interactions then staying in accounts is better, but I understand that you need a job. Good luck friend!
I will say, don’t be worried or shy about having switched to being an AE - I think it’s important for media and accounts to understand each other, so you could talk that up
I eventually want to go back to AE if the media planner role doesn’t work out. Will I be able to make the switch after a year?
If your passion is client relations, I would recommend looking into a sales role, where that’s the core of the job. Pay also tends to be higher, especially as you move up, but that’s indicative of how well you and your company’s business perform.
