I guess the real question is, should we expect PwC or any employer insurance's plan to cover weightloss drugs? I'm not surprised to see this benefit to be one of the first cut.

GLP-1s are a tough topic since sometimes it’s difficult to define “need”. Meaning what the GLP1 is treating and for whom. I know plenty of individuals on these types of drugs for strictly weight loss who will not dedicate the time or effort in the gym or in the kitchen in what they eat. On the opposite spectrum, you have people who have must less control over that and even dispositions or circumstances that do not allow for more traditional methods for weight loss.

For some individuals on that spectrum, I see GLP1s in the same category as a gym membership or good dieting choices. For others, it might be much more essential. There are obviously different discussions for impacts of an employer subsidizing versus not subsidizing these costs at the organizational level

like

Agree with your comment so far as to say that being in a defined obesity range that would typically result an some sort of medical event down the road might constitute as “need”

I guess I’m talking more towards individuals who would not medically be considered obese that are relying on GLP1s. I think that’s where the insurance assessment is

I mean.... they're not wrong.

The working conditions do make obesity and type 2 diabetes more likely to happen.

GLP1 drugs help people lose weight, which means there will be more attractive employees at the office, which should help increase retention. Seems like a win for the firms.

Have you ever taken a career slow down? I am feeling burnt out from COVID and the incremental responsibilities thrown my way over the last 5+ years. I feel like my health has deteriorated. I like my company, but I want to do less. I don’t need to be a HR Director, CHRO, etc. With a career slowdown, I am prepared for a lower compensation and would want decent benefits. Any lessons learned or success stories about career slowdowns?

Had a salary discussion with headhunter, who really lowballed me and told that the employer is not going to pay more than X.
The final interview is scheduled for tomorrow should I be expecting any salary negotiation during the final interview or after or is the number that I informally agreed to with a headhunter is set in stone?
How bad is it if I refuse to accept the offer? Will I be banned from working with that headhunting firm?

I’m not naive or fresh out of law school, but I’m at a point where I’m saying to myself “Why can’t I have it all?” I’ve been offered a job for more pay and less hours and I keep thinking to myself, what’s the catch? I know people will say no promotion potential or that’s not how it works…but what if it could? What if you make yourself valuable by still setting your boundaries? Why would we resent someone who has that opportunity?

I really need advice. I’ve been in my current role for a couple years and I’m just so defeated. I am good at my job. I work so hard and I’m so undervalued and unappreciated. My work is scrutinized to a degree that no one else experiences (I could give concrete examples of other people delivering design work that haven’t met BASIC design principles and it’s gotten approved) compared to me where I frequently get feedback that somehow makes my work worse but I just comply because it’s not (1/2)

Need advice: do you tell your manager that you’re unhappy or do you just leave?

I’m being taken advantage of with being thrown so much work and really don’t see my salary increasing to be in line with my coworkers doing similar work. I’m a consistent high performer - management reviews tell me that much.

My coworker did mention to the manager that they’re not being paid well for the work they do, and our manager took it personally and told them they’re ungrateful 🥲
