I hear terrible things about the burn and churn at AWS, for what it’s worth. PWC and other big 4 consulting gigs offer more variety in project work and therefor the types of roles you can expect.
Rising Star
Agree with KPMG. I’ve heard AWS and Amazon in general, have a rough WLB. B4 consulting offers you a lot of variability and a good exit I to product management, if that is your real goal. Can’t speak about moving from program to product management.
I work with PwC in its DDV practice and can vouch that it is a great team to work for. DDV is not just post merger integration btw (although we’re able to milk clients the best there) - I’ve done pre sign, sign to close PMO, synergy analysis and tracking, there are teams who do DDs, I’ve worked on a stint with S& too. Great projects, really good people. Good WLB if you make things clear with your team (and it’s usually respected). Overall I’m happy with my pay to working hours ratio. Amazon I’ve heard of the burn and churn - I have MBA friends working for Amazon and they do complain about the workload. I do not - I really enjoy my work. And with any consulting gig you have much better exit options - into multiple industries, functions, roles. You can join Amazon at a higher level after few years in consulting if you like.
