Uh ….. role playing with each other. Wouldn’t the questions be dependent on the role requirements?
Yes, sorry, to be more specific- they will start prescreening recent graduates for very entry level positions, so not too many specific requirements on skill set, more of a personality/culture fit assessment.
There's always some pressure to make a decision on the candidates on the prescreen. Give them some phrases to define the process "we're going to make a final determination next week" "you'll hear from me next week after we review relevant skillsets against what the hiring manager wants. That's a very nerve wracking part for a beginner.
Walk me through your work history. What do you want to do more of? Why are you looking? What are you targeting for pay? What would your boss say about you? What would your colleagues say about you? How do you best communicate/relate to people in your business? What's your favorite form of communication? What have you accomplished this year? What goals have you set for yourself this year (listen for requirements or their own learning targets).
A colleagues favorite question " What are you NOT?"
For entry-level: what made you choose this major. What do you do for fun? What have you done when no one's watching that you wish they'd know. What excites you about your career path/the future? Explain a time you were frustrated with friends/why? Who do you admire (from history, real life)?
Thank you!!
I’ve been a recruiter for a few years now and one thing that made me more comfortable is assuming that the candidate is most likely more nervous than I was. The candidates don’t know the questions we’re supposed to ask them, the guides we’re using, the process, etc. if you mess something up, the likeliness of the candidate even knowing or realizing is low.
