That’s not normal. Unless the bonus is huge, which I’m sure it’s not, I wouldn’t sign nor would I stay!
Contd: the second payment if it’s next year 8/31/2023 they need to stay til 8/31/2025 and the last payment 8/31/2024 they need to stay til 8/31/2026! This was never mentioned in the offer letter. Should they sign the additional paperwork?? I’m conflicted on what advice to give.
Thats not normal i think for a cpa passing bonus
I agree… that doesn’t sound legal to me. I would not sign the additional paperwork.
How big is this bonus that it’s being paid over 3 years instead of at once?
Insane they would expect 9k to be a retention package that vests over 5 years.
Well just don't sign the 2 year clawback. They've already agreed to the bonus being paid out over 3 years, so they can't fire you for not signing the 2 year agreement.
Wow what a cheap bait and switch that is.
Does your friend wanna move? My firm is hiring
I will be sure to let them know lol thanks
That's normal for the CPA. Crowe does that. For myself it was if you leave within those 2 years you pay a portion of the bonus back, it's being amortized over a 2 year period. It was 5k. I didn't have a desire to leave so I was fine with it.
