I have a pretty big interest in Restructing (Rx) groups (AM/HL,etc). I currently am in Big 4 AAS with less than a year of experience. Is a making the move realistic with heavy networking and learning the technicals for interviews? I'd prefer not to make intermediate moves because I see that as a waste of time if I'm truly passionate about Rx.

Are you sure you have interest in RX at A&M/Alix AND HL???

One serves (primarily) debtors and the other serves creditors. Those are two separate forms of RX that don't have much to do with each other on a technical basis.

I think what EY is referring to is consulting vs. banking. Both can serve debtors and creditors. Consultants run the strategy and corp finance while the bankers do standard banking activities such as raising capital or distressed m&a.

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!
