I have a suggestion/ things you want me to know box in my classroom. Today one of my students put a note in the box saying her mom lost her job and she feels bad because she is the poorest student in the class. She said the other kids have cool things and she is poor. I want to help her but don’t want to offend her parents. Any suggestions?

People who have cheated in their previous relationships, how did you come to realize the reason behind your behavior? A close friend confided in me that she has cheated in all her previous relationships and struggles to understand the reasoning behind it. She feels a lot of shame and is trying to understand why she does what she does.I have suggested therapy but she is not ready yet. How did you folks arrive at the root cause behind your behavior? Advice? Book suggestions that I can pass along?

What would you do if you didn’t need money? I have a fair amount coming one day and don’t actually need to work to live a good life (middle / upper-middle class). I work because of this vague notion of “ambition” and because everyone I grew up around is highly competitive and hard driving. I just feel unhappy so often and am wondering what this is all leading to. Scared I’m wasting my life being unhappy / in turmoil cause it’s what my culture wants me to do.

I teach 4th grade at a Christian school. I have been teaching for over 30 years but I have been at this school for 2 years. Since I have been working at this school it seems like everything I do in my classroom it's something wrong with it according to my supervisor. Recently, I was told that I am not getting a new contract for the new school year. I have to find a new school. I was told that I am not a good fit for the school.

So I moved out of the parents house, got my own place, got all the furniture put together started the first job... uh how do I make friends? Dare I say, maybe go on a date again? In Chicago have a couple friends in the city but no one really reliable at the moment

Do you share details about raises/bonuses/other financial gains with friends or do you keep it to yourself? I have a few friends who will tell me everything from how much money they make to how much their husband spent on them for their bdays to how much their parents make?? To me that feels like bragging/being arrogant. It’s also the way they say it, feels very much like seeking validation to me.

How many couples here where the husband/male SO is younger than the wife/female SO? And what if the age difference.

During the pandemic I dove into my self care (found a therapist, learned I was having seizures and got on meds for that). My journey has been difficult and not pretty to watch. Somewhere along the line I feel like my fiancé saw too much. I no longer feel like romantic parters and instead feel like we have a “caretaker/patient” type relationship. I don’t feel sexy or attractive anymore. I talked to him about this and he feels bad. But I feel guilty for bringing it up. Anyone else had this issue?

How do you engage your students in more reading outside of what is required in the classroom? With each passing year I am finding an ever shrinking population of students, including honors students, who actually read beyond what is posted in social media or video games. Students willingly volunteer that they do not read and most parents see it as a non-issue. I tell my students that the best readers are usually the best writers. What are some strategies that you use beyond reading logs ?

How many more days of school for you all? I have 2 more with kids, then a week of post-planning.

Does anyone know where to start to get 10 commandments back in our local schools. I feel everyone would benefit from this? Just my opinion. We need to bring God back into our country.

Even in the Christian world, we can learn from secular teachers and scholars who have familiarized themselves with Biblical principles, even if they do not realize it. Who are some of these that you follow? Do you follow them often or sporadically? Currently I'm listening to the Jordan Peterson podcasts....www.jordanbpeterson.com/podcast/. Lots of great information from this psychologist who eventually found Christ. He has several audio books out as well. Worth your time to listen IMO...

How can we be praying for you this week?

Glad to be hear folks. I am sure I am not alone but I have experienced many attacks from my administration for simply answering questions about my faith in class or telling students I do not believe in abortion. Hoping to find some insights from others here in regards to still being a Christian example in public education without losing my job.

Good Evening My Fellow Christian Educators! I realize it is going to be challenging for me this year...with so many of my students performing below grade level expectations in ELA and MATH and also ensuring that all students follow the COVID Guidelines in the classroom. I still feel hopeful that God will bless me with the knowledge on how to effectively impact each one of those kids. Let's remember to keep all educators lifted in prayer this year.
