OP we had leadership change in the recent years and the current leadership overestimated the performance target which resulted in a number of layoff.
EY seems to be more steady in their performance projection.
With that being said, some (as mentioned in the post) also perceive D to have a more prestigious brand than EY but that’s just perception and it varies from diff people. D is a larger firm so has stronger and broader offering than EY does. Also Deloitte consulting works a lot with Deloitte advisory folks so you may have the opportunity to work with people in diff practices and try something different instead of tunnel focusing on one area.
Overall I’d recommend decide whats important to you and then choose.
If that’s EY PAS you should choose us. Culture is great, partners are supportive and working from home when not at a client is completely fine in reality. However, you will choose to meet up with teammates at times because it’s a genuinely friendly culture.
Thank you so much!
I worked at D, and currently for EY. D has a great brand, but so does EY. Culture is definitely better and feels less stuffy here at EY. Also, I'm getting paid much more for same role currently.
The role is a Consultant / Human Capital in Chicago
This is another reason I'm hesitant as wel!!
Can’t speak for EY , but can say I decided to leave and job search/chill than work another day at D.
Everyone will have a different experience. I couldn’t connect to anyone there, and I swear most people were two-faced and had their own agendas.
OP Both are great firms. Both have great people. In both you will work long hours. I think now it boils down to the people you met and how you feel. If you join Deloitte, we are happy for you! If you join EY likewise we are happy for you!
From my understanding, EY has a better culture/work-life balance and Deloitte has a better reputation/pay scale. Up to you what’s more valuable!
I'd ask to talk about the pipeline with the hiring partner at both and see what fits best with what you want to do. After that accept the offer at D.
It will all depend on your team/reporting structure. I think Deloitte is more technology savvy, though. Same stuff overall (worked for all Big 4).
