Strategy folks - how do you get good at … strategy? Recently started at a startup in a role where I’m the only person under the head of our product team who handles the strategy-focus of the company. He wants me to take more ownership from him and I want to crush it but have no relevant experience here and am still fairly junior. Any books or classes? Or is it just trial by fire.
You started at a new role/company 2 months ago that is +50% your previous TC, a level promotion, and you’re happy with the team and scope. However you’re also currently in a long distance relationship with a SO you love and have been with for 4 years. The relationship is starting to crack and moving abroad to be with her seems like the best decision to kee the relationship. How would you play this out sirs/maams? Ask manager to work abroad and quit if they reject it? Thx for the feedback 😔
Looking to apply in slalom. 12 YOE with 8 in Agile Project/Program management. Can someone provide referral and help me decide what level I should aim for ? Roles just mention Agile Delivery Lead etc. Currently an SC at D
If you are receiving an offer from Jackson Lewis, for a lateral position, do they typically call first to extend an offer or will the first communication of the offer be via email?
Is there a difference between a normal tax professional vs a tax consultant that works for the big 4? Are they essentially the same position and get paid the same as well?
Considering leaving Bain with 2 years in SM role, HSW MBA, and 11 years since undergrad. Google role is non-technical Cloud Strategy. Unsure of title or level at this point - called "lead" but contact indicated flexibility. Would be remote in a non-SF/NY location. Mgr indicated it was technically an individual contributor role though I would be managing 2 people. What comp/level should I expect (Assuming L6?)? What is the significance of the IC role if I'm technically managing 2?
I have only had male mentors and I really wish I had a female role model to look up to in this field. Any advice for how to network and find a good female mentor? Im up for promotion to manager this year and I want to leave the firm after. I don’t know where to start and I lack the confidence and network needed to change careers. Any useful advice? Thank you!!
Should I be concerned for my career with lack of billable projects? Background: Analyst hired out of undergrad in July 2020. I have worked on 3 proposals in the last 2 weeks, and 5 in the last 2 months. In the past year since I was hired, I have 8 months of billable work which is actually slightly higher than the other Analysts I joined with. Should I keep collecting paychecks and hoping for projects, or is this a serious issue that should prompt an exit strategy?
What are the potential benefits of working at a deals oriented firm (e.g., LEK, S& Deals, EY-P) as compared to the more traditional Big 4 MC type roles at the post-M level? Really struggling with putting in the hours for the deals centric role as I’m not 100% sure of the longer term payoff (besides short term slight bump in comp).

Interviewing for a role at BP, what are they like as a firm to work at? It’d be the commercial/strategy side of the business rather than production. I understand they went thru a major re-org to be relevant for the future energy industry. How’s that going?
Anyone at Bain willing to have a discussion and possibly provide a referral if it’s a good fit? Looking for DC office.

If you are on bench and if you quit, do you still need to serve 2 weeks of notice period or you can leave in 1 week?

Any one here have friends in medical industry (doctors or nurses) who will not take social distancing seriously? I know two that are attending gatherings regardless of working at hospitals all day.
I think I'm mentally checking out of work. All the pursuits I was leading (and which were building my case for promotion to manager) are falling through either because of clients having put everything on hold or because the requirements necessitating the work are being waived... my jaw has been locked now for 2 days 😬
Wish I could just sit on the lake and watch the jets practice for the Air and Water Show all day 🛩🛩🛩🛩... sucks for anyone flying through ORD though
Do I downgrade/cancel Reserve and go for the $695 Amex Platinum, or keep the Reserve and get the CapitalOne Venture? Looking for the best bonus on a new everyday card. Perks are great, but I travel ~quarterly rather than ~weekly nowadays
