I have been a junior copywriter in the US for almost two years, but before moving to this country I worked as a junior copywriter back in Mexico for two years, I had to start again when I moved here, but does this count to request a mid-level position? Or how does it work here, how much time do I need to be a jr to escalate?

Two years is usually about the amount of time you spend at each level, give or take.

Work on mastering the English language.

I’m sure you speak it pretty well based on what you wrote here, and the fact that you’ve been here for two years. But you need to be at, or as close to native speaker proficiency as possible. Watch a lot of witty, well-written movies, TV, and comedy. And hang out with the other writers.

Thank you for your answer, but why would you jump to the conclusion that I have a problem with English, I never mentioned that in my post. I just wanted to know the years it took to jump to another position, all my life I studied in bilingual schools, my family is from Arizona, and of course, I watch all my TV shows and movies in English since we do have subtitles in Mexico. But thanks.

Why did you “have to restart” as a junior in the U.S.?

Your title is your title. Assuming your work was good, you should’ve been coming in as a midlevel, or if needed, spent just one more year as a junior before being promoted.

like

Hell I’d just go for a senior title, you’ve earned it!

I was just let go from a contract position 2 months early due to client reorgs (Covid). Was filed as a W2 but on a 6 month contract. Would I still qualify for unemployment? Pre Covid I wouldn’t but with the continued Pandemic Assistance plan, I think I might. Does anyone here have experience with this?

How do I be a decent manager to a coworker who's upset I've been promoted twice in two years and they haven't? We started out as coworkers, became decent friends after a few good moments, but went back to simply coworkers after they flubbed a few projects and I had to step in to clean up. I'm non-confrontational but year-end reviews are right around the corner and I'm worried about having to act professional to someone who I got too close with and who now hates me.
