I have been on a doctors leave. I have used all of my sick day and FMLA. My school said I have to resign if doctor doesn’t release me after my appointment 5/12 my doctor wrote a lettter that said I can not go back to work and will be reevaluated Aug 15. Can tjey make me resign?

I’ve been an LPN for 8 years, predominately in pediatrics, both in patient and home healthcare. I’ve worked in medical offices for 10+ years before that. I was looking to explore options outside of bedside nursing/direct patient care, do I have many options? I saw another similar post but the OP is an RN, and I didn’t know how much that information would apply to me as an LPN.

I support the CEO and have for the past 2 years. We have a relatively new CFO (~6 months) and today he off the cuff said “I don’t trust you, and I’m going to start questioning you.” when I informed him the CEO was gone for the day. Senior 1 here- I have recently been getting severe episodes of panic attacks every morning before sitting down to work. Unusually anxious this busy season (probably due to be assigned on a huge re estate fund client which i am definitely incapable of managing in addition to smaller clients)? Got put on a PIP today. I took a leave of absence in the fall and I had to come back early because disability wouldn’t pay out and my divorce a couple years ago left me in debt. I’m the breadwinner, my husband is disabled, and I can’t stop crying. Work gave me no accommodations. My advisor just had boiler plate advisor speak and advice. I wish I could just win the lottery or something. I want out of this life but can’t afford to take a pay cut at all and I feel so stuck.

I’m trying to get my grandmother (81yrs old) travel medical insurance for a trip to the US, where I live. She’s in good health and lives in South Africa. I can only find travel insurance options for those who are aged 80 or below.

Does anyone know of any companies that offer senior travel/medical insurance (81+) or have any other recommendations? Or does she just come without travel insurance?

A paraprofessional's job is more than just waiting for instructions for the teacher. What would you do if they were yours? It's common sense!

Anybody else out there getting a boatload of emails, but none of them pertain to you? All of the emails are geared towards returning teachers and the only thin the paras know is our start date.

Anyone else's district distance learning? How are you feeling about it?

I have been in my position for 27 years and have never seen such a state of affairs as I have this year (but then, with the pandemic, who has, right?) Well, long story short, we've gone hybrid (some in person, some online). The teacher has been out with surgeries and covid. I have been teaching both groups at the same time. Sometimes a sub for help, sometimes not. I love the kids, but really?

For my curiosity, how much are you paid? Do you feel as though it is an appropriate amount for our job?

I love my job and have been doing it for years. My Principal is good to me as well! The problem is...the Paraprofessionals at my school are never recognized. You have Teachers Day, Secretaries Day, Principal's Day, etc. Paraprofessional Day comes and goes at my school every year with nothing mentioned to us. Paraprofessionals in my department (Sped) wear many hats on certain days and work extremely hard (mentally/physical)! Does anyone else get this treatment?

So...seems like shut downs are headed our ways. Why are schools requiring us to come in? I worked for multiple teachers last shut down, and honestly went above and beyond any other para in our building. I have three kids ages 8-11. This will put me under a tremendous hardship if I have to go to work everyday and find a sitter. Not to mention- when I brought this to my principals attention he said I might have to take Covid leave. Covid leave only lasts so long- correct? The. What do I do?

I just wanted to say good morning and this is my first time on Fish Bowl.

I had surgery 3 weeks ago, almost 4 and the doctor has released me to go back to work sinc either was a work injury. I definitely don't feel ready and feel my knee isn't good enough for the stairs.

I will say this I love working with the students . I love getting to know them . I smile to myself when I go to work . I still feel this way after last week being asked my three different people about doing something where I told them that I was not going to do. following day I was then ambushed by admin (where I have never felt more like nothing. Following this encounter with people in charge I had an anxiety attack. This was terrible and I have no trust . TAs are mistreated. Similar story?
