Just accepted an offer with a psych startup. Not exactly the offer I was hoping for as I’m taking a slight pay cut ($73/hr) and it’s a 1099 position. I keep getting stuck on the 1099 piece because I’ll be working 40 hrs/wk, but have been told I’m not eligible to be a W2 employee. Needless to say, no benefits whatsoever. They don’t even provide a computer or any other remote equipment for the completely remote position. Am I making a mistake? Also, can anyone chime in about being a 1099 employee?

I need advice. I moved into product management under a year ago to an early stage startup. The first few months went well, but the last 5 have been chaotic. It's my strongest skillset (including the soft-skills aspect of dealing with those clients) and I got appoached for a job that focuses more on HNW, but I don't know if it's a good idea to focus in on that direction at my career stage. I got an offer from a company A with 90% increment on CTC and in other company B at 130% increment on CTC. I'm totally confused which one to choose. Here are some pointers regarding the two:
1)A has both fixed and variable whereas B has fixed. So 130% will be fixed.
2)A is brand company B is paying really well.
3)B has sure short onsite opportunities.
Not sure which one to go for. Any help/suggestion would be great..

And one of the reason they give is that after 10yoe, one is given a managerial role...and as a result he/she becomes redundant and following the pyramid structure they are laid off!

So is going for an MBA the only solution?
How one can extend his IT life given the fact there are EMIs that would continue till retirement?
