I have to ask... what is the obsession with FAANG? Arguably the only good exit opp for consultants there is Google.

Good exit opp depends on what you want. Salary - all of the FANG companies match each other’s salaries. You can argue Netflix pays higher on an average, but sometimes amazon can pay the highest comp. just depends on the need and the role. WLB: sure google is best on average, but then again, very team dependent and my friend at Amazon goes to work at 10 and gets home by 5. He told me he never worked a weekend except getting ready for the first prime day. Impact: everyone of the FAANG companies have way more impact on the world than any of the consulting company you can work for (McKinsey as an exception helping saudis kill people more effectively and do even more shady things) At the end of the day, MBB vs BIG4 vs a boutique consulting firm. All of them have pros and cons. But on an average, MBB brand is perceived better than other consulting firms. Same with FAANG. The brand on your resume opens some doors from a recruitment perspective that you may not get at a start up

EY1 I was talking about Alibaba as not part of FAANG in response to OP. Then substituting Amazon as counterpoint of another FAANG firm that has poor WLB. Sorry if that was unclear

Does anybody have a view on the growth path / trajectory for a Strategy and Ops Lead at Google? I didn't get a very clear sense in my interviews, esp. because it feels like there is 1 manager for the team and so there is not a lot of scope for organic upward movement. Is it only through lateral moves within the org? You get enough tenure for the next role then find an opp to switch?

I am a Manager in Salesforce practice at D and I have 15 YOE and 5 years in Salesforce and at 145k base at D. I took my current role at D at the start of the pandemic and got myself a bad bargain which is why I am looking to move.

I graduated in May 2020 and found myself excepting a Junior Art Director position in Healthcare. I never saw myself in health but with many agencies having hiring freezes I decided to get some experience and save up some money in the meantime. Fast forward one year; I’ve added a new campaign to my website and I’m starting to apply to consumer agencies again. Any tips to help me make the transition? Any place to avoid? Who have you noticed is hiring again? Thanks in advance :)

Genuine question: What are the most common exit options at Google BizOps? (1) For internal transfer to PM, those teams seem to prefer to hire Google engineers. (2) For internal transfer to Chief of Staff, why those teams don’t promote their own Strategy & Op folks? (3) For BizOps internal promotion, there are not many Director positions. (4) For leaving Google, I don’t know where people usually go… Please share your thoughts / correct me if I’m wrong. Thanks!

Recently got an offer in LCOL/MCOL for a senior tax accountant role for 87k. 3 years of public experience and have been in industry for almost a year. Current job pays about 5k more, but is a bit of a rarity in my city. New job’s team and culture are more appealing to me. Is the offer reasonable or should I try to negotiate? I’ve never negotiated before so I’m scared they might pull the offer. Thanks!

I currently have my green card process ongoing with Publicis Sapient; I-485 was filed more than 180 days ago, however, the I-140 is not approved yet. If I leave for another employer at this stage, is it likely that they might withdraw the I-140 which would mean withdrawing the green card process completely?
