I hear some very personal topics being discussed between colleagues, and I'm not even trying to hear them. They're all just very audible. Are people just not concerned about these chats being heard by more people than they intended, or are they unaware that people are able to tune in? I don't get it, and I know for a fact that I'm not sharing details like that with anyone at work. Do you see your office as a safe space for private conversations?

The last time I shared something personal with a coworker, it backfired, and it became the talk of the office. Never repeated that mistake, even after I moved to another company. And so far, only good things have come out of that.

yes, you may share silly stories and anecdotes, but never ever share anything too personal, secret, or private to your co worker. It might backfire. This is also why people say "don't shit where you eat".

like

Absolutely not. Don’t even disclose disability to HR if you need accommodations. Anything you say can and will be used to get rid of you.

Some try to mask it as water cooler talk, expecting others to tune out even if it's loud enough for the whole office. I mean excuse me for hearing you blast your life story on max volume

You can ask them

Like what? Because in some contexts 'personal topics' can easily be team building and normal culture. Being able to bring your whole self to work is critical for well being, which is foundational to success in all regards. 'Professionalism' is usually toxic, not the other way around. So, I'm really curious to know what the topics were.

Probably don’t care - many people overshare and are fine with it.

This sounds like pre-COVID office activity, LOL! I love it!!

Take notes for blackmail later

Oversharing makes me so uncomfortable in an office environment but some people really just need to vent and the office is the only place for it… if it’s not inappropriate though it doesn’t really matter. I can see it affecting peoples potential in the company though.

Working as CAL Manager with Accenture S&C India. Offered ~GBP 76.5K (fixed plus flexi) at Manager Grade by Deloitte London.

Prior to Accenture, I have already served as S&O Manager with Deloitte India for ~1.5 yrs - so this would be my second stint with Deloitte as Manager "again".

2 questions:
1. Should I ask for Senior Mgr (AD) grade - to which they have already said NO
2. Is GBP 76.5K sitting at the lower end of M grade in Deloitte UK? What should be a good expectation for the role

I saw this and thought I'd share. What do you say? “Diversity hiring does not mean a lower bar for diverse candidates. They still need to interview and pass the hiring bar. Therefore, diversity hiring is not unfair to other non-diverse applicants."

Gave interview sometime back, Initially they did not agree to the ask, since I already have offer from other org which is much greater than what Tavisca is offering.....Difference is around 4lakhs in both of them, the other org is mid sized company which gave higher offer... What to do in this case... Go for JPMC?? Or other org?? Tavisca JPMorgan Chase

Had a first round interview scheduled for a large CPG brand. My interviewer never called me, and I emailed following up to confirm the call. It’s been over a day and no response. What is going on with recruiters? I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, but not even an email back saying “something came up” or “we’ve moved on” ? I’ve been ghosted after every final interview during my recent job search, but never had I been ghosted before even having the first call??

Thoughts on “special” salary grades. I just found out the VP I was offered is not a grade 12 like most comparable roles (verified). Also not an 11, but an 11A. Slightly higher than an 11, a good bit lower than a 12. All due to the fact that it’s a leap from my current position. Why should that matter…..shouldn’t it pay what it should pay if I am selected, rather that curving down towards my current rate?
