BCG X first round interviewer here.
If you didn’t make it past the first question, there is a reason. Our live coding exams are extremely easy compared to tech and meant to weed out people who fundamentally can’t code and/or help themselves through a basic coding problem (it’s an open internet test and even someone who doesn’t know Python can figure it out if they know terminology of common data operations and how to use Google).
I’m sure you did not get feedback that you didn’t advance “mainly due to coding” because we don’t give that sort of feedback. If you did a case interview, that was probably a significant part of the rejection as well.
Why do you think you should apply again?
That’s right - If they don’t get to the second it’s because the first (which is meant to be super easy) took too long and we move on. For me and many interviewers, making it to the third question isn’t necessary - I only go there if we either got through 1-2 quickly and I suspect cheating (the third question is code comprehension so it’s hard to cheat), or the person is interviewing for a more senior position and they need to be able to review code for juniors.
What type of role were you going for that required multiple coding interviews? Just curious
No, it’s rudimentary data manipulation in Pandas, open internet
You don’t want this role probably. If you’re technical just go to a tech company
