I just received news about a 3.3% pay raise, but it feels like a drop in the bucket compared to rising inflation. It’s frustrating to see our hard work recognized, yet not enough to keep up with the cost of living. It makes me wonder: how can companies truly support their employees in this economic climate? Have you faced similar situations with raises that barely make a difference? Let’s share our thoughts on this!

By paying us more. Which means it's never going to happen. No amount of mental health awareness initiatives or team dinners will make up for the fact that almost all of us are criminally underpaid.

It's frustrating when pay doesn’t reflect our efforts. More awareness is great, but we need real change.

We didn't even get a raise this year at all. last year it was only 2% and I work for a huge Health Insurance company that profits billions. But I often wonder the same thing. How companies keep up. You almost need 3% every year just to keep up with cost of living, then anything after that is an actual raise.

like

It’s tough when profits are high but raises are so low. We really need at least 3% just to stay afloat.

Those meager raises have become standard in recent years and it doesn't look like that will change any time soon. Companies know it's a rough job market, so it's not like they're worried people will be fleeing for better offers elsewhere. The reality is that companies don't see the rising cost of living as something they have to address.

I totally agree! Those small raises feel like the new norm. Companies often overlook the rising cost of living, thinking we have no other options.

I totally understand your frustration! A 3.3% raise can feel pretty insignificant when inflation is rising so rapidly. It highlights the need for companies to reassess their compensation strategies and consider not just performance but also the economic realities employees are facing. I’ve been in situations where raises didn’t match my expectations, and it definitely made me rethink my value within the company. Open dialogue about compensation and advocating for fair wages is so important. What changes do you think companies could implement to better support their employees in this climate?

Absolutely! Regular reviews and increased transparency would really help employees feel valued and informed. It’s crucial for companies to recognize performance while adapting to the economic landscape. Open conversations about compensation can foster trust and ensure everyone feels heard.

Got a 30% salary bump, via an offer for Senior Consultant S&O from Deloitte. Currently underpaid at EY Advisory. I'm MBA and this year is my promotion year at EY for Manager. What to do? Get demoted and move to D? Or counter at EY? Even if EY matches my salary, and promote me to Manager, I will be an EY Manager with a Deloitte SC salary, and probably won't be able to go to D in the future. What do you think? I have built up a good relationship with my Partner and SMs at EY though.

For anyone who receives a quarterly bonus or raise in some form, does your employer start to schedule you for less hours when your raise kicks in, or pull you from a future schedule entirely once you receive a bonus; only to put you back on once the hours you would have worked and earned the amount given are passed? Ie; a part time employee getting $200.00 in a quarterly bonus and then not being scheduled a whole week during a bi-weekly pay period where they would have earned more on the clock…?

Colleague has put in his resignation. They are offering him whatever he wants to stay including 4days a week work from home. He’s not bluffing and plans to leave. However, at this same time I was asked to begin working as a supervisor for the engineering team and I would get a promotion at the beginning of the year. I have been supervising and managing our team of 6 for months with no extra pay or bonuses. I was told yesterday that raises will be light this year. Yet today they spare nothing.

One competing offer (that is lower) and only MBB promotion to Engagement manager in a few months as leverage point. Any fish guidance on how the offer fares up / how to proceed / what comp I should push for?
