Hi! I just accepted a Relationship Banker II role in Allen, TX. My offer letter was 50k base and 1k guaranteed commission a month first year. I just graduated w a degree in Business Administration. Basically the info I got on how commission works was pretty vague. Anyway I wanted to see what someone I’m their 1st or 2nd year can realistically expect to on average make in commission a year in this role. Also what do bonuses in the role look like? I’m hoping to just hear some ballpark numbers! JPMorgan Chase JPMorgan Chase

Do you have a direct manager that you can meet with to get a sense of your role?
If not, you must have some sort of direct or indirect team and stakeholders? Set up 1:1s with them and find out their role and ask how you think you’ll partner together.
Review the job description again and see if there are any hints in there.
Do you have access to any internal drives? See if there are any org specific priorities or strategy for the year and try to see how you can support that
If no one is defining your role, define it yourself and move forward until someone stops you.
I was an Ops manager and loved how i could touch any process and improve it and partner with others on any issue they had to solve. No 2 days were the same
Ops Mgr- oh no! I’m so sorry to hear that was the response you got. Your “spidey sense” it right then. It’s a big red flag when leaders gloss over these things and try to micro-manage or slowdown how issues are surfaced. The risks and ops issues certainly should not takeover or drive everything, but they do have to be taken seriously, addressed with competent people in dealing with ops to put the chaos to rest so the organization can focus on the vision and strategy - otherwise as I’m sure you know, it will only snowball into bigger (potentially show stopping ) issues.
It’s also unsettling that you got feedback about your tone and language. I too am a very matter of fact communicator (I give hugs and hot chocolate only on special occasions not for everyday work!)
In the spirit of evolving workplace culture to be more positive so people feel better about work, I see a lot “overshooting” where we can’t surface or talk about problems. It’s swinging the pendulum in the opposite yet equally unhealthy direction. and frankly flies in the face of inclusivity and diversity of thought if we exclude the “matter of fact” voice from the team.
Sorry to hear, but it sounds like you’re going to need to find a better fit. Good luck!
After an uncomfortable conversation saying that I am not perky enough and bring up to many issues, they gave me the "we can fire you or, you can quit" ultimatum.
Feels a little bit retaliatory and probably violates some kind of whistleblower protection. The severance agreement definitely didn't follow the new rulings about things that can't be in a severance agreement.
Overall, I feel relieved, but job hunting takes so long here, and unemployment can take even longer since I resigned instead of letting them fire me.
I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, but ultimately, it's for the best.
