I know finance is overall a conservative industry, but it’s hard if you don’t fit into the mold. I’ve been hiding my true self for years. It’s painful to hear coworkers bash others because they are gay or look different. I’ve noticed if they don’t understand something they lump it all together, so it makes one small thing seem insane. It’s hard to hear from a human being standpoint, but especially when I’m hiding things about myself that they openly bash. Like being bi, politics, religion, etc.

My coworker brought a puppy to work, who bit my hand. I ended up losing my temper and yelling at them. Now everyone is mad at me for blowing up at work, even though this is something I shouldn't have had to deal with in the first place!

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. Hello, I have a question that needs your inputs how to handle. I am working with a post-MBA Associate on a project and this person seems to do extra work beyond what the team is asking the rest of us to do. I think during our conversations with the leadership, there were a couple of points that were brought up by the MD but that was not a concrete directive that we need to do because if it is, I would know about it from the chain email since I am staffed to the project.

Nine months on the job, 2019 graduate, feeling very ill-equip and self-conscious about making mistakes. My review went well, just had one partner who is generally difficult to get a hold of and who doesn’t actually respond say I need to ask more questions. How do I get out of this rut of feeling useless and like I’m not contributing to my job?

I’ll be asking my last job for a letter of recommendation but I’m not sure who to ask. My boss, who is lovely and would write an amazing LOR. Or my boss's boss who would put minimal effort in but it would have more weight.
