I know there is a lot of discourse around disclosing vs not disclosing to your employer. Let’s list some of our top tricks that help us manage our days, projects, etc that don’t necessarily require disclosure. For example, for me I created a weekly schedule in One Note that I can reuse. Each day has 5 check boxes for my top priorities for the day. I try not to have any more than 5 “top” priorities for the day and I find that clicking the little check box is a mini dopamine hit.

I recently got diagnosed am trying to stay on track. Every morning I make a checklist with very detailed tasks so I can break it down to manageable steps.

like

I flag any emails that need a response when I get them. Then I go through them each morning and before I log off and decide what needs to be addressed before I move on to my to do list. If it takes more than 10-20 mins to address it, it gets added to the to do list, which is sorted in order of priority.

like

I have filters on my inbox. And I use a weekly task list. Also outlook calendar saves my butt regularly it even reminds me to eat lunch. Everything goes in that calendar.

like

I have people filters and important messages filters (basically things that I need to take action on.

I give myself a good half hour each morning to plan my day. I organize files/desktop, scan email, review calendar and identify the 3 highest priority projects. I have a 15 minute increment calendar where I plan the day ahead in detail and look back on the prior day. I choose one priority and “plug in” for 30 - 90 minutes to get it done and delivered. I use flow club with focus music, noise cancelling headphones and dnd on phone for this part.

Another thing that helps is I strive to schedule 15-30 minutes before and sometimes after each meeting to prep just for that meeting and get my action items well documented.

If I can get 3 sessions of “flow” work per day, plus be prepared for meetings and keep up with inbound communications, things go pretty smoothly.

I try to balance my daily to-do list with a mix of big hard stuff and then 2-3 easy and/or quick tasks to get the dopamine hit when I can check them off quickly.

I try not to have more than 2 big initiatives per day that I plan to work on. If I have five big projects I need to work on in a given week, I try to dedicate a specific workday for each one so I can get into flow and actually make progress on them.

I have a physical to do list and also use my calendars to note things I need to do at certain times or on certain days.

Every week, I block out time on the calendar for the next week so I have lots of designated focus time and then some open blocks for people to schedule meetings.

I turned off Teams/Slack/email notifications (sounds and pop ups on the desktop) so I don’t get distracted every two seconds. I try to only check email periodically (first thing in AM, midday, 4ish) and keep outlook minimized so I don’t see an email and get distracted from my work.

Is QEF inclusion dividend or not? Sometimes, I see QEF inclusion reported on Line 11i and sometimes on Line 6a. I think we can rely on Sec. 1293(c) but I think it’s not foolproof. My hunch is since QEF regime is tailored to treat the PFIC similar to domestic mutual funds, we should not treat the QEF inclusion as dividends. Any help is appreciated.

Has anyone had a Manager that does not work well with your ADHD? Im going through this right now and the way they communicate doesn’t match what I need. If I ask questions, they huff and puff. But then get upset if something is done and it doesn’t meet their exact expectations. It’s sucks that I don’t have enough interest to continuously focus on the projects, but now I have even less motivation because I dread dealing with my manager.
