I don't think a gap in a resume is a red flag these days, layoffs are not uncommon
Yeah, Linkedin is super important for the job search these days. You can also turn on the "open to work" thing, I noticed getting more messages after I did. Goof luck!
I think you should be honest.
You will eventually have to confirm your previous employment dates or your references will be asked to do this. So sooner or later the company hiring you will know. If they find out you lied or mislead them, this could mean the offer is pulled. I've been in this situation and I've pulled an offer because there were other 🚩
But I've also seen colleagues do this after being made redundant and I understand why people do it.
I saw someone mention in another post that companies take advantage of people who don't have a job by offering lower salaries thinking they're desperate and will accept it. I have not seen this happening, nor would I do this. So if you're honest, know your worth and stand your ground. If they low ball you, you don't want to work for them.
I would leave it be but just network and be active on the platform, it does help with attracting recruiters in, especially if you have good descriptions for each role on LinkedIn
No, keep your current employer on there but tell them in interviews that you were laid off.
