It sounds like you’re being harder on yourself than anyone else is…. We are all human and it’s okay to not be perfect.
If your boss was the one being hard on you, you would actively rebuild his trust by focusing on small wins until you had another large win to “make up” for the mistake. In this case, I would suggest you do the same for yourself. Learn to trust yourself again, one day and one experience at a time.

Read the book “Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck”— its great on audiobook format but it has a few chapters about how we get in our head and replay moments for ages that most people never notice past the interaction. Sounds like your people around you aren’t letting it fester but naturally you’re trapped in a cycle thinking about it bc it’s what we do.
Whenever it comes up in your mind say “not today intrusive thought!” And let it pass, soon enough these things won’t haunt you.
What was the mistake related to?
This is what I wanna know too
It’s natural to not let go of embarrassment. But even if you leave, you’ll still lay awake at night and let that replay in your head anyway. I would say talk to someone, maybe temporarily get some therapy over forgiveness (forgiving yourself for making a mistake).
I have the same problem Len with letting go of embarrassment, especially when it’s due to a mistake that I’ve made at work. One thing that helps me is telling myself that what happened was a teachable moment and that we all make mistakes. Use this as an opportunity to grown and not one to run.
