I manage a team of WFH customer service reps. One of my CSRs works from home with a baby. She takes care of the baby all day while working. Her productivity has never been up to par. She does great work when she is available, but she takes long breaks to tend to the baby, and it negatively impacts her productivity. I understand and respect that she is a mom and that comes first, as I am a mom myself. However, I need her to meet the productivity standards. WWYD?

WFH is not a substitute for caring for a young child. People who don’t know that are problematic. You need to measure her performance vs goals and or compared to others to show the gap and tell her she needs to change something to keep up and meet expectations.

Exactly!! You let her make that choice in regards to her personal life and what she needs to do to help w her performance. I have 2 kids and a single mom…when they’re home I have help because when it comes down to it …..her performance is not great and a company won’t pay for sub par employees

I would talk with her and ask for suggestions to improve her productivity. Maybe she can bring someone in to help her with the baby for a few hours during the day.

Unless there are extenuating circumstances OR a temporary situation presently, your employee is being conpensated to perform the clearly defined tasks of her work role, not her motherly role.

I think I am slipping into depression. My life seems to have no meaning and all I do is work. I don't get time for myself or my family, friends and loved ones. But I can't leave my job and take a break as I need the financial support.

Hi i lost majority of my money in the stock market. I married and promised my family that I will not make the mistake I made 7 years ago. Gambling. Is this an addiction I have. I keep selling stocks and taking loses buying other stock hoping it will recover but never did and sell again taking loses and buy again. It now sink in to me. Received an offer as Engagement Director from Salesforce (CSG, pre sales, L9). Great benefits package, 40% increase in total comp and better WLB.

I do love the people in my practice and current client, but career trajectory has stalled after taking parental leave earlier this year and (yet another) change in leadership.

Does anyone have any advice for supporting and coping with someone going through withdrawal? My husband is trying to quit his weed addiction and he has been irritable and mean since he quit. His mood is erratic and he is constantly annoyed w me. I don't even know how to bring this up without setting him off. Um, I feel like my BF of almost 4yrs (1 living together) and I are on the brink of separating. I think COVID is putting it into perspective. We’ve gotten through the worst of the quarantine while supporting each other as best we could (very thankful for him). But his coping skills with stress (during covid) are lacking and as things progressed he’s just been taking it out on me more and more in the moment, then he feels awful for not treating me as well as I deserve (he treated me well before..)
