Yeah for real OP, are you in the tenderloin or something? If not, $1500 for a single in SF is amazing and I wouldn't hate my life at all if I were you
I did my MBA from NYU and learned very early on that unless you are in Wall Street there is no point staying in NY, unless you're in Silicon Valley there is no point going to SF, and unless you're an arctic penguin there is no point going to Chicago. Hence I picked good weather, central location and cheap living and here I am in Dallas.
It's cheap I'd say. $1700/Mo in Hoboken
2 bedroom with a roommate, my half is $450. Charlotte, NC
850$ Dallas for one bedroom in a good location. Oh yeah!
Really? I feel like that's pretty low for SF, unless you're not in central/popular area in the city. If you want a studio or one bedroom in NYC and want to live in central or downtown Manhattan you're paying upwards of 2k easily
I feel so much better now
Buying a car was one of the worst financial mistakes I've ever made and I will never do it again. Dealer's auctions from now on.
@A4 😱 do you live in the closet under the stairs?
I've owned a car for 12 years. Between payments, gas, maintenance, parking, insurance, and time spent in traffic, it easily approaches $1k a month unless you drive a beater. Also, my SO would need a car if we lived elsewhere, doubling the cost for our household.
"No point"... there's plenty of points if you're a minority
Because Dallas sucks.
How much do you think car expenses are, OW1? And do you not pay for any kind of transportation? Metro card & Uber cost me more than driving ever did.
^EY3 which complex? Looking for a new place in Dallas
Op what? I feel like SF was way more expensive. We're paying $2100 for 1br DC proper. That's the lowest we found in an area my gf would feel safe
Well I grew up in NYC so having all my family and friends here is a big point if you ask me lol
A1: yes, that is a big point. Sorry guys I was one dimensional. I'm from abroad so did not have strong social ties anywhere. So from that perspective it made most sense to me.
$1540 mortgage for 3bd/2ba 2200 sq ft single family home in FL. It's 75 degrees this week.
I agree with you E3. Obviously family is a factor but otherwise there is no reason I'd want to live in NYC or SF. Both great places to visit, but that's it
I have a family
