I once took a job solely for the health care (which started day one) and stayed on long enough to complete the procedure I needed to have done (about six months). Anyone ever done the same? I hated the job and I felt guilty that I knew I wasn’t in it for the long haul. But man, that health care in that season of my life quite literally saved my life. Have you ever been in a similar position? Where you took a job you didn’t care for solely because of the benefits?

I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?

I received an offer for a role that is a lot more money than I thought but I still want to negotiate and see how much more money I can get. What can I say if the salary is already above average for the role in the market and city I live in?

My husband just received a job offer on an opportunity he is really excited about.
