In my opinion one of the worse things you could hear from someone when you are dating is ‘I usually don’t talk to someone like you’. It makes it seem like you are just settling for that person.

So I have been seeing a guy for 4 months. We have a pay disparity.. he earns less than I do (by quite a bit). He has mentioned a few times that he’s worried I’ll get bored of him when I know he can’t afford the same things I can. I think we are beginning to move past this, but now he’s starting to mention things like ‘I am really broke this month’, and last weekend he told me his mum has lost her job and he’ll have to probably pay her rent. Be honest about your status and forthcoming. Don’t play the ladies for your ulterior motives. What’s meant to be will be, however if you approach dating/marriage for status or hide your actual situation, surely it will not end well. Sincerity and honesty are very important values!

FML. I’ve been dating someone for 8 months and have been having doubts about the longevity of the relationship. This week he tells me he is thinking about leaving our city and working remotely.
