Congratulations on getting an consulting role in this job market!
Thank you, I was surprised as well.
Mentor
Just FYI that role isn't consulting, it's internal audit. Maybe that is what you want but honestly it sucks. Did it myself for years.
Go for it congrats! RFA will open so many doors for you
Yeah to echo this, you can gain exposure to ERP systems (oracle, SAP, etc), transactional projects, or even ESG. The opportunities are vast and many desirable in industry.
Some surprisingly incorrect answers here. A&IC is not just internal audit. There are groups within the offering that do accounting advisory, digital work, treasury, etc.
That’s a relief, thank you so much. Was a bit worried there. Does one get to choose what groups they work with? And what’s been your experience so far?
If you got an offer letter I’d say go for it! Learn on the job that is what most of us do
I appreciate it.
You’ll be alright. Be a sponge! What level did you get
Thank you. Consultant.
You will likely be doing SOX audits which is most of A&IC
It’s better than actual audit. In RFA, you’re providing value and clients want you there which is the opposite of audit.
It's a great place to be. Much better than external audit. So many different opportunities to steer your career. Have been here 3.5 years.
What group do you work with? And how’s the wlb?
I did the same career switch as you OP. I was an auditor at a mid-tier CPA firm and made the jump to RFA at another B4. I leveraged the skills I gained in RFA and made the switch to consulting. Not one day goes by that I wish I stayed in audit lol
My advice is to learn as much as you can in your first year. Take notes at every meeting, don’t be afraid to ask questions, and take the time to truly understand your client’s objectives / pain points.
Also DU is lit af
Right that’s probably the only thing I miss about it
Just a warning, that's Deloitte's group for IT Specialists on external audits and also internal audit work. If you're trying to get out of audit work, make sure you understand what your role will be.
What office will you be in? Congrats! I came from industry and there was a bit of learning to do as it relates to consulting but your previous experience is what matters
I used to work for RFA, it’s a good way to pigeon hole your career and become internal audit focoused
Where if I May ask
Ask for a bit more than your offer if you didn’t get a pay raise. Don’t ever take a pay cut for consulting, you’ll regret that.
Hey! Did you end up accepting the offer?
Hey! Can you send me a msg?
