Given your history I would've pegged you as more of a brand management type. Maybe try account roles in house or at an agency rather than sticking to social media? A lot of those roles would still have you touching social.
I’ve gotten rejected from most brand management roles so far because of my experience being mostly social media focused sadly.
Strategy could be fun. Art direction is over saturated
I’m still very interested in strategy roles, but it’s definitely been a struggle to find them as well.
Strategy is not fun but it has jobs. Look at creative strategy, digital strategy, social strategy, and experience strategy. They're all different but they all could benefit from your skill set if you sell yourself right + take a free coursera to understand them.
I still think strategy is really fun and would love to work in that, but I’m definitely struggling finding the roles.
Unless you have a background in art, design, or film, it’ll be a major uphill battle to become an art director in an already over saturated market. Social content creation is very different from campaign work and 360 platforms. There are a few overlaps in skill set, but the application is not the same.
I’ve noticed most larger cities and markets opening up more and more roles for content creation in recent years, specifically on brand side. If you enjoy social, stick with it and try and find something in-house.
I’ll try to look more. I’m glad to hear more content creation and social media roles are existing! I would still love to work in this role but I know I may have to change what I want to do a bit.
