I saw that a client is posting a job for which I would be a perfect fit. They are essentially looking to add someone to their in-house that does what we do in the firm for them. Is it risky for me to apply? Or is it not that big of a deal?

You should definitely apply! We’ve hired former OC before.

like

Definitely apply! Every employer should understand to use discretion when looking at ANY candidates who are currently employed. It’s normal.

like

You may also want to explore a secondment through your firm.

like

If you see we posted for a full time hire and you are using that as an opportunity to pitch your services at a higher cost then we would pay that person my company would likely reconsider how much business we give you. Secondments can be great particularly when we have a long term leave or a short term need. But when we’ve decided to hire full time it’s a bad look to use that to pitch your services at a higher cost. If your offering a huge discount we may consider it but it still a downside because we don’t get the company institutional memory or relationship building long term

How big is your firm and the client ?

I think you should apply but first make sure there wouldn’t be any conflicts you can’t get past. For example, I work in government so I have to get approval to take a job that has certain dealings with my current employer.

FFS. Was on H1 and went on a UK project for an year (not intentional , just opportunistic). Was planning to come back on L1 this year and now, this Executive Order is imminent. Eligible people, please vote him out. (Also, for the select few of you, before you start, I was educated in the US, paid my taxes for last 10 years - so, don’t go off on your tangents)

Hey Fishes,

Joined LTI recently in P3 band. However not allocated any project. Got a call from the resource management team to relocate, which I rejected upfront as I was promised a role in the location I am posted. It has been over 2 weeks since I am in bench. What shall be the next steps, shall I wait for some days or start looking for other jobs as getting a project looks difficult as there are minimalist responses.

Hi! I’ve started to consult a new agency, an 8 month contract ending Dec,2020.
The client is to ‘pay’ me in art plus a retainer reduced by over 60% of my standard rate (because of the painting.
Art=1 piece at the end of the contract, but only if I complete the entire contract. IF I don’t stay on/company doesn’t get off the ground or relationship doesn’t work out, he can sever the contract. He is difficult & volatile and has yet to give me a contract 1 month in. Have I agreed to a bad deal? help

Now got offer from freshmenu(product based) giving only 25% hike(24Fix,0V) but ready to wait 90D NP. They are saying - I already got good hike, no budget, your NP is high and we are considering only fixed part.
So in dilemma to stay for yearly hike or to leave because of 90D NP which will make difficult to get another job

Has anyone quit their job because of a relationship? I started my job 3 months ago and now my employer wants me to move to NY. The thing is, I fell in love during the pandemic with a friend that I have known for 3 years. It's frustrating since I know I could continue my job from home. I would honestly quit my job and wouldn't mind the job search again.
