Bain & Company I’m from Italy and will start my master’s degree at Oxbridge this fall. I got my undergrad from a target uni in continental Europe. I want to start my career in consulting, possibly MBB, in London. I know consulting firms tend to hire locally but I’d really like to work in London and that’s also one of the main reasons why I went for the Oxbridge degree. Anyone, who might have some tips, or went through a similar experience? McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company

No. I’m constantly learning and given a lot more responsibility and decision-making than when I was at previous firm. Yes, I do make PowerPoint pages etc but it’s always in service of something, not just the heck of it. And that’s not the totality of my job, only a fraction.
I don’t feel like that:
- Do I love the job? No.
- Am I learning? Most definitely.
- Will it all be useful going forward? Probably not.
- Will some of it, like any profession? Yes, definitely.

Some people do feel like that
However, there are some values in this profession, my perspective from someone with a very technical background in analytics
What values would that be? I personally think that the main skills are project management and communication
I feel pretty similar to Strategy&2 answer above. I don’t at all feel like the job is just PPT, and I am learning a ton. Do I love the job...probably not. But for me, that’s more of a product of the pressure cooker environment and not the actual work itself, which I genuinely enjoy. I suppose that’s the trade off you make though.

Unfortunately i lost it, but wasn’t the first time I’ve seen things like that so I summarized it and wanted to see if that perception is felt generally throughout consulting or just at non mbb bc if the type of work
we get paid to solve a problem and not to make slides.
Slides are just an effective medium to communicate though not the only medium.
But sometimes people do go overboard.
