I see so many people as Vice President in GS. I thought there is usually 1 VP. I see people with 4-5 years exp as VP & also folks with 15years as VP. Does GS use VP a term referring to Engineering Manager ? If not, who becomes a VP.

I'm a newbie in sustainability sector. I'm confused whether to continue in sustainability or shift to other domain like prodman. Sustainability is gaining traction for sure in India but I'm a bit skeptical about the future it holds. There isn't much visibility about the career trajectory too, considering it to be a relatively new field. I feel it like a debate between exploring a niche vs general field. Any suggestions?

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. Currently a first year staff in Risk Advisory in a Mid-Tier Firm hoping to move to Big 4 for either Risk or Cyber. When would be the most appropriate time to make the change? I heard that Senior Staff in mid-tier would most likely be hired as an “Experienced Hire” in Big 4. So would it be smarter to make the move now as a first year staff since I’ll be considered Experienced Hire anyway?

I am a consultant working in one of the big 4. I have got a call from DE Shaw HR for a role in their Project Finance and Investment Research team focusing on Energy sector? Being an MBA in Finance graduate, I am in a dilemna on which path might be better I the long run -consulting (where I am more of a generalist, taking up random asks from clients and onshore stakeholders) or Project Finance & M&A where role might be more specific.
