I would also add to check with either your company or their code of conduct because depending on their structure they may require you to report your work location which can impact taxes for both of you
So non travel related advice but you just started this job so I wouldn't attempt this until you are at least 6 months in and comfortable with the tasks and work you get
Right of course I guess I meant after I had a firm footing in the job I would consider this 😅. Thanks for that

Spend the money on a personal hotspot so you are not at the mercy of hotel internet. If your phone/phone plan lets you do that great but otherwise get one. I ran into some trouble with some of the firewalls and VPNs fighting each other. Also, if you happen to use a Chromebook a LOT of hotel internet is Chromebook hostile.
I have this flexibility but my husband doesn't for the most part. We only travel and work when we're going to see family and they're also working. Honestly, take trips where you are on full vacation mode. You're spending the money so you should enjoy it, not spend it working during prime day time.
Over the weekend or during the week? Weekend is easier. Block as much of the day as you can Friday. If you’re workplace is like mine, there is generally an expectation people are working hard all week and then wrapping up on Friday. If you can leave Thursday night and work the morning remote Friday morning that buys you almost a full day without burning vacation. My wife and I do this a lot without much issue.
Depending on your situation I’d work Monday and/or Tuesday remote and then take time for travel/transit as needed.
