Most green / environmental / sustainable advertising is performative. Privileged people who feel icky about drawing a salary from big business making collages about token gestures that they would never do themselves. If we were serious about making the biggest impact on global warming, we would make campaigns encouraging people to live in cities and support nuclear energy.
And actually holding major polluting + wasteful companies/industries accountable, demanding major reforms and regulations to existing systems. But that isn't exactly what I'd call attractive to the advertisers who pay our salaries.
You might need to rethink careers if this is bothering you.
@op they do. You just aren’t seeing it yet.
I worked on a car company that made a spot about saving the environment. 🤦🏻♂️

So if I’m understanding your world view correctly. Every client I service must have matching viewpoints on (checks notes) everything?
I think the bigger problem here is that this agency has, since its founding, prioritized and promoted their own interests and their own brand first over those of their clients, and spoken ad nauseum about the types of people they will work with, both in terms of ethics and ambition. So (and this is me extrapolating) but it’s not the OP’s world view that all clients must have matching viewpoints at any agency, but rather that if the agency claims to pride itself on who they work with, both from a creative and moral standpoint, that there is an obvious and gross disconnect here.
I find it ironic that they belong to HAVAS, who works with fossil fuels.
It would help if the chair wasn’t both very ugly and impractical. Purely an academic exercise
I think a lot of what they do is spec work or work that never runs. Also if you speak to senior clients or agency MD’s, the goss is that agency has a high turnover of client accounts
You work at a company. Their job is to make money, and self promotion in the form of lofty work is part of that.
It’s only hypocritical if you think you work for something different or more moral than that.
Welcome to the machine.
Gotta offset it somehow, one dirty pair of jeans at a time
YouTube servers cause an ungodly amount of CO2 to be pumped into the atmosphere to show you cat videos.
One reason I try to work mostly with tech clients is that it’s pretty benign as far as things go.

Ah yeah. AI and social media, really benign. But most people are missing the point. The point is that if you wanna do an eco conscious campaign don’t shift the blame and responsibility to individuals because most likely you have a glass roof to cover.
