McKinsey & Company I did my final round with McKinsey today, and I I received a rejection call from the partner today. However, he said I did really great and wants to keep in touch with me. He also mentioned that I should reapply in 6 months. Does anyone have any similar experience? Do I have a better chance if I reapply next time?McKinsey & Company

May I know what is the notice period if one resigns in infy during the first 6 months of joining? I am a lateral resource and they hired me in June, but they have no projects related to my tech and want me to take weird roles.. seems they are hiring to increase employee count and cross training most. just looking for options..

I did it. Just apply to MC at another firm and talk about how you have skills that can be transferred
You have 0% shot at moving into a strategy role from risk...and a senior role in traditional MC will also be rather difficult. It is possible though to switch to MC by moving to another firm, but will most likely come in as an experienced associate
Something else. I would love to stay at EY and work in PI but there are strong forces working against me in that endeavors
What practice are you interested in? I think your best bet is to identify a specific practice (based on past exp, certs, sector, skills/degree) and figure out what practice in PI best aligns. After that, network your ass off and keep bugging managers, SM and partners within the practice until you work on an engagement. Strategically communicate your intention with your counselor and peers to gauge support. If your current BU says no, then you won't be able to move (at least that's what I understand)
I applied to tech consulting. I do tech strategy and functional roles on implementations
There are several practices I'm interested in including strategy, customer, and supply chain. And I actually do have a pretty solid network in those and engagement opportunities came up in the competencies I want to work in but I was "strongly encouraged" to work on a project within risk because it was long term utilization. Hence why I'm trying to leave
Those are probably the hardest teams to switch into from anywhere, not to mention a different subservice line
Ignore any strong encouragement if you really hate risk. It won't matter in the long run
Agreed with EY3, your best option is to move to another big 4
Do you want a senior role in risk or something else?
@K1 did you apply for a more operations consulting role or strategy consulting? My initial thought is that it would be more difficult to move directly to strategy
