I want to tell anyone who’s feeling the interview burnout or defeat, to stay encouraged! I’d been actively applying and interviewing for 5 months but couldn’t land anything. Interviewing made me nervous, sweaty, and completely blank or lose my train of thought. I bettered my interview skills, specifically catered towards the interview questions I was hearing on a regular basis. I interviewed with 12 different companies and 25 interviews later, I FINALLY landed the job with the company I wanted!

I use to look for post like these to make me feel human because it felt like I was constantly seeing everyone get jobs so effortlessly. Meanwhile I was getting my hopes crushed with rejection letters and the oh so causal ghosting of recruiters day by day. So I hope I can be of encouragement to someone to remember, it’s definitely a journey. I’ve beat myself up and been stressed for several months wondering what I was doing wrong. But practice, perseverance, and just one “yes” is all it takes! Stay the course and be encouraged!

Call me when you hit a year of job hunting to no avail. Oh, and to compare straws.. you have to start getting rejected from lower level position to lower level position. I can’t even get an entry level job at this point.

It took me 16 months... The first 12 months I got all of two interviews. I then took a 2-3 week break to clear my mind, assess the situation, and make some changes to my resume, cover letter, and overall approach. Over the past 4 months I've interviewed for 9 different roles and have advanced in many of them (over 20 interviews in total). I received two offers late last week and signed the offer letter at one of them on Monday. I'm telling you this to say that perseverance and persistence is key, but so is keeping your confidence up. It might be time for you to take a step back to recalibrate. In my situation, this helped me rebuild my confidence and identify some gaps in my approach, and it made a world of difference.

Best of luck to you!

I think that, if you treat well your knowledge base and describe a good and fair resume and presentation letter (cover letter), they will call you to have a conversation, if you tell them the truth, you will have more interviews, but if the problem is the interviews, because you are shy or less talkative, you can say exactly what you have to keep out of your resume. This is why constantly making your resume updated is important, let you more confident about what you really know. Everybody is good in something, and of course have others things to learn. Do not accept the first offer, try to work with something you really like to do. If you like to drive, take a job on it. If you like games, study make yourself useful for them, and apply for your dream job. It's important to be useful. To feel like that.

COO’s & previous SR. account executives…

I made it to regional manager for a franchise by age 22. Ran a successful financial practice & sold by the age of 33. Took 2 years off and built a health & wellness coaching platform for my wife (medical provider). Then, the last 2.5 yrs, have been a top producer in Saas sales as a senior account executive. I’ve been told I would make a great COO someday and I’m ready to take the next step into leadership. Who/what should I be targeting next?

I recently had an interview with BNY for an Analyst role located in DE. The interview went well and I was informed by the recruiter that the team was interested. They asked if I was willing to relocate immediately, and I told him that my decision would be best made if I see an offer. I have not yet received a follow up after this(coming on two weeks) so I know that I've been ghosted. My question is, was I wrong to ask to see the offer before making a decision?
