The freeze on federal student loan interest is set to end on September 30th, do we think it’s going to get extended past then? It doesn’t seem like things are going to be much better come September, so it feels like extending to at least January would make sense?

I hope so. I’d rather the government just tax some billionaires and cancel all debt though.

And before some consultant assholes reply to me about “I paid off my loans they should too!” Just think of someone else other than yourself for once. The world can be a better place if we make it one.

I agree lets fix the problem- “nonprofit” schools charging 100k a year while sitting on millions / billions in endowment

like

It needs to be extended indefinitely. Abolish interest rates, too. Student loans are legalized indentured servitude!

like

SC1 I hope you paid every dime of your college and even then I find your lack of sympathy distasteful

A freeze on issuing federal loans would be a better bet. To remove the artificially inflated cost of college. Someone must be able to chart out the rise in tuition with the creation of federal loans.

like

Problem is, then how do regular folks get access to college is we can’t afford the tuition? Loans have to be available, but schools schools be required to justify any tuition increase past the rate of inflation and get approval from the feds to do so for those emergencies. Overall congress and DOE just need to be much more involved in creating reasonable tuition caps. But you can’t take away loans without screwing over kids that aren’t rich.

like

It would have to be passed by House/Senate House is good with extending everything the Senate wants to pretend things aren’t happening so... 50/50 and call your congresspeople

like

I think they could also just do an executive order though. Because it was first frozen by Trumps executive order in mid March (which said “until further notice” and then the CARES act specified 6 months. It seems to have bipartisan support.

Keeping my fingers crossed for this

Think there is a chance trump might extend it for his re-election as part of trying to win the youth vote but don’t count on it

Everyone should have to gain an associates degree from a community/state college before applying for a high tuition bachelors degree at a university. 🤔

like

I did this. Still have student debt. Maybe relax the rules colleges have about transferable credits? I finished 4 year degree and took one additional semester to meet CPA requirements. I’m sure some of my credits were excluded from that calc. Let’s do a better job getting kids to focus on long term goals rather than an expectation of “you’ll figure it out in college”. (FYI career goals didn’t change much. Started as finance, finished finance)

Yes, it is definitely needed.

Just forgive that shit. Since we’re just printing money anyway. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hi fishes,

I received an offer from big 4 with 60% hike. My managers wants to retain and I asked them to match if you want me to be retained.
Now I got a call from GPM yesterday. He used harsh words like "being greedy" "selfish" etc and offered me 30% in the end.
I politely declined but he asked me to reconsider as he said "it would be unfair for the org for you to leave so soon."

Let me know a proper response.

Also what do you think of this behavior by GPM?

I’d like to stay in the same apartment complex but can’t sustainably pay (about) the same amount long term. How much do we think I could try to negotiate rent down? Rent right now would be between $1200-1300 monthly. Start them at $900 and see how it goes? Or lower/higher?
