I was laid off 4 months ago and interviews slowed after the first couple months. I’m worried the gap is starting to hurt me even though it’s not that long. For those who searched 6+ months, how did you explain the timeline without it sounding negative?

You took time to regroup, think about the role you want next, searching for the right fit, then pivot in the interview and this is why the role im speaking to you today is such a great match for both of us (good for the interviewing firm and you). Then highlight your skills and experience and talk about how you will bring immediate impact.

I was out for 4 months and this is exactly how I played it.

Don’t go on the defensive right away. Think of a narrative. Frame it positively and optimistically without sounding naive. Keeping pushing. It won’t be easy, but the only way it doesn’t happen is if you give up. If you don’t give up, you’ll break through eventually.

Also show up to events in person. Focus on building relationships and community. References will help more than anything else right now.

And you can also start to take some projected based work or part time job such as work with Axiom etc, so you can mitigate the risk of non- practice for months

What can you do if you’re getting interviewed by the same person who didn’t choose you in the first place?
Context: I applied for a position a while back and got interviewed, but didn’t go to the next round. I found the same position open again a month later at a different location and applied. Almost immediately, I was called for an interview, but with the same interviewer. What does this mean? Is this going to get awkward?

I've heard the interview process can take awhile, and just want to make sure I'm managing expectations for hearing back

Long post alert; I have been interviewing with a b4 for a senior con role since Mar end. Cleared all the rounds including case study and got strong rating as well as good feedback. Fast forward to last week, the talent POC calls me up and informs that she has asked the business if the position is still open, because now they just need the business approval to roll out the offer. I immediately felt demotivated as to ‘why now’ after all rounds have been cleared (continued in the comment below)
