Anyone who has recently resigned from ibm? When you initiare a separation process from workday, it goes to manager for approval. I asked HR and there is a due date mentioned on that process. Does that mean that if manager does not approve before the due date, my resignation is declined? What is the impact and what is meant by that due date? IBM

Think they did a good job on this piece. It was a truly embarrassing moment for the firm, but I think it’s being handled as well as can be expected. Should go smoothly this year 🤞

If you've been let go, mourn the loss of a job for 1 day. Think about some things you could learn from this. And then on day 2, look forward. Get searchimg for a new job.
Same thing happened to me. Accused of things I wasnt allowed to do! Obviously the internal problems will persist because they are not solving the source of the problem. Someone else will be the escape goat next time. Just move on.
I got fired for “poor performance” from the littlest crappiest local firm 2 years out of college. The sole owner of the firm expected me to be a technical expert and lead client engagements right away, and I couldn’t because, I was a new college grad (obviously).
That experience fueled my drive at my next firm, a top 15 global firm which I’m a partner at today. I agree with the other comment, don’t dwell on this for too long, focus on your next opportunity.
Read this like a superhero backstory. Inspiring stuff lol.
Agreed. It is an unfortunate situation and I’m sorry you had to experience that. Now you’ve got to focus on what you can control. Take time to grieve the loss, but waste no time blaming yourself. Sounds like the office manager isn’t much of such. Don’t allow that to be your issue anymore; you did your part. Wishing you a speedy offer with a positive culture.
I just found out others were let go yesterday too, not just me. Found out 2 managers and 3 admins resigned last year due to the office manager.
Thank you for the validation.
I'm sorry you were let go... but it sounds like it is in your best interest that you were. When you interview for new positions ask relevant followup questions reguarding how they handle such situations if you are concerned. It will help you decide if they are right for you.
You know some companies hire just for busy season and then cut, cut, cut. Unfortunately, this industry have a lot of bad actors.
You assume, I was hired strictly for tax season. You are wrong. I was not the only one let go.
Same thing happened to me, tried accusing me of one thing I proved her wrong right there and then and then after being silent for 30 seconds goes well a year ago you were written up for hitting your vape while outside walking to your car after work?!?! Even then I thought wtf but a year later and getting fired for something I already got written up for? That is The Antlers for you
If you have been let go, there isn't much you can do except move on and start looking for something else. The job market is rough right now, so it could take a while to find something you like.
This is horrifying since you did not deserve it. But the management does and will not take blame for failed systems and they would rather blame someone else. Revenge by getting back is always an option but it’s not highly recommended! You have to dig two graves! Accounting industry is not that large so you are better off not doing something that may sour your name and character. My advice will be take some time to digest it, find a new job and I guarantee you that you will forget about it after you get settled at your new job. Unfortunately this uneasy and “rejected” feeling will continue until you get settled at your new job! Try suppressing it by keeping your chin up and positive thinking!
Accounting industry IS large so if you want to let someone know something to get it off your chest because it will help you move on, do it! I've done it several times and it has never stopped me from moving onto whatever I chose next.
Same thing happened to me. They interviewed my replacement in front of me , but in another area
I had only been there for a short time. I was treated horribly
I hope there is something put there for me
All jobs are at will so you can be dismissed for any reason other than due to discrimination from certain protected classes (e.g., fired due to race/religion, etc.). You were laid off, not fired (for cause) so your performance didn't matter.
Everything you typed after “I was let go” doesn’t matter.
Agree to disagree.
Have a great rest of your day. 👍
